· 연구 주제: 본 연구는 역할의 의미, 역할의 내재화 과정, 역할과 정체성 구성의 의미를 살펴보고 개인성 구성이 함의하는 사회학적 논의를 다룬다. · 연구 배경: 개인성에 대한 질문은 인간 존재의 인식 방식에 대한 사회학의 전통적 주제이다. 개인은 사회적 역할에 따라 개인 외부에 존재하는 사회 규범과 가치를 수용하게 되고, 이때 역할은 사회적 기능과 개인의 관계를 연계시키는 매개이다. 하지만 역할 개념은 20세기 동안 역할 기능에 축소된 개인성을 강조하여 개인주의와 기능주의의 사회학적 논쟁 구조를 만들었다. · 선행연구와의 차이점: 역할론의 기존 연구는 규범적 역할 기능의 일면을 강조하고, 물질/정신, 외재성/내재성, 객관성/주관성, 결정주의(기능주의)/현상주의 대립 구조를 내포하여 개인성 연구의 한계를 짓는 측면이 있었다. 본 연구는 역할 행위에 주관성이 작용하는 방식에 주목하며 역할 관계와 정체성 구성의 의미를 살펴볼 것이다. · 연구결과: 역할 기능은 객관적 외부 현실로서 첫째, 사회적 역할이 개인의 역할로 치환되는 고유의 방식을 가지고 둘째, 역할에 순종하거나 저항하는 주관적 내면화 과정이 자기인식과 행위 모델을 구성하며 셋째, 역할 행위의 상호적 관계에서 불가피하게 다양한 정체성을 구성한다. · 공헌점 및 기대효과: 역할 관계에 따른 개인성의 이해는 역할 개념을 수정하고 보완한다. 역할이 외재적 현실 조건이기도 하지만 능동적인 개인성을 구성하는 과정이기도 하다. 또한 본 연구는 결정주의와 개인주의의 이분법적 논쟁을 희석시킬 수 있다. 마지막, 역할 정체성에 대한 성찰은 특정 집단에 대한 낙인 현상과 폭력 문제에 대한 올바른 판단을 제공한다.
Abstract
· Research topics: This article examines the meaning of a role, the process of internalization of role, and the construction of identity with the sociological discussion implied by the construction of individuality. · Research background: The individuality is a traditional question of sociology to understand how to perceive the human beings. The individuals who perform a social role accept a social norms and values that exist outside the individual. The social role is aimed at connecting the function of society and the individuals and so it is an effective mean to analyse the construction of individuality. However the concept of role, through the 20th century, arose a sociological controversy between individualism and functionalism because of the aspect of reducing an individuality to a role function. · Differences from prior research: The theory of role has emphasized the one side of its normative function and has included a conflict like material/sprit, externality/internality, determinism(functionalism)/phenomenalism. Thus, there was some limit of the individuality study. This study focus on how subjectivity acts on a role behavior in order to understand the individuality and examine the relation between a role and a construction of identity. · Research results: The role is an objective external reality. It has first its own way in which a social roles are replaced by an individual roles. In this case, the subjective internalization process through obeying or resisting the role constitutes the self-awareness and a model of behavior in society. As a result, it inevitably constitute a various identities of individuals. · Contribution points and expected effects: This individuality study will contribute to the correction conceptual of role. Also, this study can dilute the duality between determinism and individualism. The last, this reflection on role identity will provide the correct judgment on the stigma or the violence against certain groups.
