· 연구 주제: 공공도서관에서 인공지능 기술은 업무 및 서비스에 어떻게 활용될 것이며 인공지능 시대에 공공도서관의 역할은 어떻게 변화할 것인지 공공도서관 사서들의 인식을 중심으로 분석하고자 하였다. · 연구 배경: 공공도서관에서 인공지능 기술과 생성형 AI가 활용되는 초기단계이다. 본 연구는 조직에 새로운 기술을 도입할 때는 조직 구성원들의 관련 인식을 살펴보는 것이 중요하다는 판단에 수행되었다. · 선행연구와의 차이점: 기존 관련 연구들은 대체로 대학도서관을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 공공도서관은 지역사회를 중심으로 다양한 이용자들에게 서비스하는 기관으로, 해당 기관만의 특성을 살펴볼 필요가 있다. · 연구방법: 본 연구는 델파이 기법을 적용해 공공도서관 사서 6명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행했다. ‘인공지능에 대한 관심 및 지식’ ‘인공지능 활용에 대한 인식’ ‘인공지능의 효과적 활용 방안’ ‘인공지능의 활용 위해 필요한 지원’ ‘미래 공공도서관의 역할’ ‘미래 사서직의 변화’ 등을 중심으로 논의를 진행하였다. · 연구결과: 사서들은 인공지능 기술로 인하여 사서직이 줄어들 수 있으나 이용자에 대한 서비스가 보다 향상될 수 있다는 점에서 긍정적 태도를 보였으며 기계가 대체할 수 없는 이용자와의 소통과 교류에 집중할 것을 강조하였다. 향후 공공도서관은 인공지능 리터러시 기관 역할 및 지역사회 공동체 거점 역할에 집중하여야 할 것으로 인식하였다. 또한 자료조직과 단순 반복 업무에 인공지능 기술 도입이 우선시되어야 할 것으로 나타났다. · 공헌점 및 기대효과: 본 연구는 공공도서관을 중심으로 인공지능 도입에 대한 사서들의 인식을 분석한 연구이다. 향후 공공도서관이 인공지능을 범용적으로 도입하는 정책을 추진할 때, 기초자료로 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
Abstract
· Research topics: The purpose of this study is to analyze how AI technology will be utilized in work and services in public libraries and how the role of public libraries will change in the era of AI, focusing on the perceptions of public library librarians. · Research background: Public libraries are in the early stages of utilizing AI technology and generative AI. This study was conducted based on the judgment that it is important to examine the related perceptions of organization members when introducing new technologies to an organization. · Differences from prior research: Existing related studies have mostly focused on university libraries. Public libraries are institutions that provide services to various users centered on the local community, so it is necessary to examine the unique characteristics of each institution. · Research method: This study conducted in-depth interviews with six public library librarians. The in-depth interviews discussed ‘interest and knowledge of AI,’ ‘perception of AI utilization,’ ‘effective ways to utilize AI,’ ‘support needed for utilizing AI,’ ‘future roles of public libraries,’ and ‘changes in future librarianship.’ · Research results: Librarians showed a positive attitude toward the fact that AI technology may reduce the number of librarians, but services for users can be improved, and emphasized that they should focus on communication and exchange with users that machines cannot replace. They recognized that in the future, public libraries should focus on their role as AI literacy institutions and community hubs in local communities. In addition, it was found that AI technology introduction should be prioritized for data organization and simple repetitive tasks. · Contribution points and expected effects: This study analyzed librarians’ perceptions of AI introduction centered on public libraries. It can be usefully utilized as basic data when public libraries implement policies to introduce AI universally in the future.
