이 글은 영남 북부 강안 지역의 학문적 동향을 살펴보면서 특징적으로 드러나는 백과적 학문 경향에 대해 지역성과 결합하여 설명하려는 데에 연구 목적이 있다. 영남 북부 지역은 자연지리적 특징으로 복고적, 은거적 측면이 부각되었지만 여러 고개를 통해 다른 지역의 문물이 가장 먼저 전래되던 지역이다. 도회의 관점에서는 궁벽한 곳이지만 경기와 충청에서 내려오는 신문물이 가장 먼저 집산이 되는 곳이기도 하다. 또한 전통시대에 이 지역은 물길과 육로를 통해 각종의 신문물이 가장 먼저 도달되던 곳이다. 이에 따라 낙동강 북부의 강안 지역은 상대적으로 자유롭고 개방적인 기풍이 있으며 학문적으로는 회통적, 융합적 성향이 강하다. 이로 인해 외부의 문물을 백과적으로 소개하거나 외부 지식을 축약하는 백과전서학이 발전하였으며, 역사책을 간략하게 축약하는 방식이 유행하게 되었으며, 지역의 인물을 정리하는 보학이 발전하게 되었다. 이에 따라 이 지역에서는 유형별로 정리한 백과사전류, 간략하게 정리하는 사략형 사서, 다양한 형식의 보학서 등이 편찬되는 양상이 특징적으로 나타난다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to examine the academic trends in the Nakdong River area in northern Yeongnam and to explain the encyclopedic academic trends that are characteristically revealed in combination with regional characteristics. The riverside region of the Nakdong River in northern Yeongnam has a natural geographical feature that highlights retro and secluded aspects, but it is also the region where culture from other regions was first introduced through the mountain passes. From the perspective of cities gathering together, it is a remote area, but it is also the place where new cultures coming from Gyeonggi and Chungcheong were first collected. Also, in traditional times, this area was the place where various new cultures were first reached through waterways and land routes. Accordingly, this region has a relatively free and open atmosphere, and academically it has a strong tendency toward communication and integration. As a result, encyclopedic studies, which introduce or summarize external cultures encyclopedically, have developed, and books that briefly convey external knowledge, such as compiling abbreviated historical books, have become popular. In addition, the study of compiling local figures has developed. Accordingly, books published in this region are characterized by encyclopedias organized by type, salyaghyeong saseo(abbreviated historical books), and various types of compilation of the Bohakse(the Genealogical Studies book)
