Abstract
This paper is focused on the movement of 68 as a cultural revolution. After examining revolutionary attempts in fine arts, cinema, and drama, I analyzed the change phenomena in fine arts from the mid-60s to the mid and late 70s, especially in relation to the ideas and beliefs of 68 movement. The ‘Atelier populaire’ based on the national art school and the decorative art school didn’t reflect only the struggle of students &workers and their resistance spirits, but also concentrated on poster-making for mass propagation of revolution. Further, they put their energy to elaborate the theory of cultural revolution for establishing popular arts by demolishing the isolationism of arts &artists. The Cineastes attempted to make an Establishment for fundamental reform of cinema institutions and of the movie itself through an independent organization like ‘les Etats Gnraux du Cinma franais.’ They created a new conception of struggle movies for encouraging the revolutionary consciousness of the mass. On the other hand, the dramatists denied the state-initiative (high) cultural policies and instruments through the manifesto called ‘la plate-forme de Villeurbanne,’ and created a new drama concept of the general public for the general public. The politicized arts which criticized socio-political realities by popularizing the art through the street arts & environmental arts and reflecting the beliefs of the 68 movement demonstrated well that the movement of 68 as a cultural revolution continued until the 70s.
