초록
This article consists of a constructive critique of profit maximization from the Marxist perspective in two ways. First, profit maximization and the possibility of methodologically integrating it within Marxist economic framework following Goldstein’s centrist methodological microfoundation alternative is analyzed. Second, a basic version of the profit maximization problem in Marxist terms is proposed, as well as the way in which it can be linked to various areas of Marxist economic theory. This basic model and future more complex versions can methodologically strengthen Marxist theory, as well as become useful tools to generate progress in this thread of research.
Abstract
This article consists of a constructive critique of profit maximization from the Marxist perspective in two ways. First, profit maximization and the possibility of methodologically integrating it within Marxist economic framework following Goldstein’s centrist methodological microfoundation alternative is analyzed. Second, a basic version of the profit maximization problem in Marxist terms is proposed, as well as the way in which it can be linked to various areas of Marxist economic theory. This basic model and future more complex versions can methodologically strengthen Marxist theory, as well as become useful tools to generate progress in this thread of research.
