사람은 누구나 태어나고 죽는다. 삶의 축복을 알리는 탄생과 삶의 끝을 알리는 죽음은 항상 우리의 삶에 공존되어 있다. 이에 우리 조상들은 죽음이라는 숭고한 의식을 다양한 문학 장르에 담아 그 감정과 의식을 표현하였다. 죽음을 미적으로 승화시킨 대표적인 장르 중 하나가 만시인데, 본 고에서는 17세기 목재 홍여하(16201674)의 만시를 통해 그가 만시를 지어 준 대상과 창작 양상, 그 속에 흐르고 있는 감정과 의식지향에 대해서 살펴보고자 한다. 홍여하는 철저하게 자신과 관계성이 있는 퇴계학파 영남남인의 인물을 위주로 만시를 지었다. 관계성을 중심으로 그들과 함께 나눴던 경험과 추억을 중심으로 자신의 진솔한 감정과 정서를 작품 속에 녹여냈다. 형식적인 측면에서는 정형화된 근체시 위주의 장형으로 창작하여 내면의 진실함뿐만 아니라, 외연의 예까지도 경건하게 갖추려 하였다. 만시의 표현 양상에 있어서는 만시를 짓는 대상에 따라 그 양상을 조금씩 다르게 구성해 창작했음을 확인하였다. 자신과 관계성이 뚜렷해 추억할 서사가 있는 대상에게는 직접적이며 구체적인 사실을 진술해 고인에 대해 칭송하고 자신의 기억을 오래 유지하며 자신에게 반추하고자 했고, 이와 반대로 관계성이 없는 대상에게는 전고와 용사의 다양한 소재를 활용해 고인을 찬미하고 자신의 슬픈 감정을 더욱더 고조시켰다. 또, 아주 가까운 대상에 대해서는 자신의 슬픔과 상실의 감정만을 직접적으로 담담하게 담아내었다. 홍여하의 만시에 드러난 감정과 의식지향은 스승과 선배에게 지어 준 작품에는 그들의 업적과 덕업을 추존하여 같은 지역 내 문인들에게 긍지와 자부심을 갖게 하는 기능으로 활용해 영남남인의 결속화를 추구하고자 했다. 그리고 그가 친우의 죽음을 겪고 지은 만시에는 깊은 상실과 이루 말할 수 없는 슬픈 애도의 정서가 표출되었다. 또 가족에게 지어 준 만시에는 고인에 대한 애정과 애상이 가득해 시를 감상함에 편안함과 정겨움, 소탈함과 따스함을 느낄 수 있었다.
Abstract
Everyone is born and dies. Birth that signifies the blessing of life and death that signifies the end of life are always coexisting in our lives. Accordingly, our ancestors expressed their feelings and consciousness by putting the sublime consciousness of death into various literary genres. One of the representative genres that sublimated death aesthetically is Man-si(輓詩), and in this paper, I would like to examine the objects and creative aspects that he built through Man-si(輓詩) of the 17th-century timber Hong yeo-ha(洪汝河), as well as the emotions and consciousness directions flowing in it. Hong Yeo-ha thoroughly wrote Man-si, focusing on the characters of the Toe-gye School(退溪學派) Yeongnamnamin(嶺南南人) who are related to her. Focusing on the relationship, he melted his sincere feelings and emotions into his work, focusing on the experiences and memories he shared with them. In terms of formality, it was created in a long form centered on standardized Geunche-si(近體詩) to reverently equip not only the inner truth but also the external ceremony. As for the expression aspect of Man-si, it was confirmed that he created it by composing the aspect slightly differently depending on the object of creation of Man-si. He wanted to praise the deceased, maintain his memory for a long time, and return it to himself by stating direct and specific facts to subjects who have a story to remember because they have a clear relationship with him, and on the contrary, he used various materials from the allusion(典故) and Use things(用事) to praise the dead and further heighten his sad feelings. In addition, only his feelings of sadness and loss were directly and calmly captured for very close objects. The emotion and consciousness orientation revealed in Hong Yeo-ha's Man-si attempted to unite Yeongnamnamin by using their achievements and virtues as a function to give pride and pride to writers in the same region. In addition, the emotion of deep loss and indescribable sadness was expressed in the Man-si he wrote after the death of his friend. In addition, the Man-si he gave his family were full of affection and sorrow for the deceased, and I could feel comfort, affection, ease, and warmth while appreciating poetry.
