방송 기술과 데이터 통신의 발전은 디지털 방송 시대의 도래와 광대역 데이터 통신 기반의 네트워크 서비스를 가져오고 있다. 1995년 시작한 한국의 중계유선 서비스는 1999년부터 보급된 Cable Modem(CM)을 이용한 데이터 통신과 함께 2003년부터 시작된 디지털 방송으로 한국의 1100만 CATV 가입자에게 Home Digital 시대를 이끌어가게 되었다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 현재 케이블 네트워크의 핵심 데이터 통신 기술인 Data Over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS™)에 대해 기술적 측면에서 살펴본다. 뿐만 아니라 DOCSIS를 기반으로 한 PacketCable™, OpenCable™ 및CableHome™의 기술적 특징과 기본 구조에 대해 연구한다. 이를 통해 향후 케이블 네트워크의 문제점 및 발전 방향을 이해한다.
Abstract
By developing advanced broadcasting and data communication technology makes convergence service which can make 2-way digital broadcasting system and broadband networking service. System Operator provide CATV service at 1995 and data communication service with Cable Modem at 1999, SO provide Digital cable broadcasting service at 2003 in Korea. These services can make a “Home Digital Age”for 11Million CATV subscriber. This paper introduces DOCSIS (Data over Cable Service Interface Specifications) technology and also other service which is based on DOCSIS technology, like PackeCable, OpenCable and CableHome services. By understanding the DOCSIS technology and related service, we can understand Cable Network infrastructure and related issues and prospect future cable network and services.
