Abstract
In this paper, we propose a location-dependent detection order allocation method for the SIC scheme in DS/CDMA systems. Performance of the proposed allocation method is evaluated and compared with those of both SIC scheme with random detection order allocation and conventional single-user detection scheme. Average other-cell interference, average transmission power and system outage probabilities are examined for the performance comparison. It is shown by numerical simulations that the SIC scheme with the proposed location-dependent detection order allocation method produces less other-cell interference, so that the smaller average transmission power is required than the SIC scheme with random allocation method and the conventional detection scheme. Consequently, the SIC scheme with proposed allocation method shows smaller outage probabilities owing to less other-cell interference than the SIC scheme with the random allocation and the conventional detection scheme. In addition, the reduction in average transmission power can be directly translated into the increase in the battery life of mobile handset.
