스트레스와 자살생각 및 공격충동의 관계에 대한 귀인성향의 통제효과 : 청소년 문제 상담에의 함의

초록

본 연구는 내담자의 신념체계가 환경적 사건과 문제행동의 관계를 매개한다는 REBT 및 인지상담이론에 근거하여 내담자의 신념체계로 가정된 귀인성향이 청소년의 자살생각 및 공격충동에 대한 스트레스자극의 영향력을 어떻게 그리고 얼마나 통제할 수 있는지를 탐색하였다. 수도권 지역에 거주하는 295명의 남녀, 일반계와 실업계고등학교에 재학중인 청소년들이 조사에 참여하였다. 일련의 위계적 회귀분석에서 자살 및 공격 충동에 대하여 3차원의 귀인차원(외부귀인성향, 통제불가능 내부귀인성향 및 통제가능 내부귀인성향)과 3종류의 스트레스자극원(가정, 또래관계 및 학교관련 스트레스자극)이 독립변수로 투입되었다. 분석결과 세 종류의 스트레스자극원은 모두 자살생각 및 공격충동과 정적 관련성을 보였다. 한편 외부귀인성향은 폭력충동과는 정적 관련성을 보였지만 자살생각과는 의의 있는 관계를 보이지 않았고, 통제불가능 내부귀인성향은 자살생각에 대해서는 정적으로 공격충동에 대해서는 부적으로 관련되었으며, 통제가능 내부귀인성향은 자살생각 및 공격충동 모두에 걸쳐 부적으로 관련되었다. 마지막으로 귀인성향 변수군은 자살생각에 대한 스트레스자극 변수군의 영향력을 절반정도 공격충동에 대한 스트레스자극 변수군의 영향력을 2/3정도 통제하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 그리고 이 연구결과들이 상담 실제, 특히 상담의 과정에서 내담자의 인지적 특성을 강조하는 상담이론에 시사하는 바가 논의되었다.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the effects of attribution styles as belief systems in controlling the relationships between stressors, and suicidal ideation and aggression drives, based on the basic assumption of rational-emotive therapy(REBT) and cognitive therapy that clients' belief systems mediate the effects of environmental stimuli on the problematic emotions and behaviors. 295 high school students sampled in a metropolitan area of Korea participated in the survey. A series of hierarchical multiple regression analyses were performed to test the effects of three attributional dimensions(external locus of control, internal-uncontrollability, and internal-controllability) and three domains of stressors(family, peer-relation, and school) on the suicidal ideation and aggression drive. Three domains of stressors were positively related to both suicidal ideation and aggression drive. However, attributional styles had different effects depending on the outcome variables. The external locus of control had the positive relationship with aggression drive, but not significantly related with suicidal ideation. The internal-controllability had the positive relationship with suicidal ideation, but the negative relationship with aggression drive. The internal-controllability had the negatively related to both suicidal ideation and aggression drive. Finally, the group of attributional dimensions had the significant effects in controlling the association between stressors, and suicidal ideation and aggression drive. All these findings were discussed in terms of counseling practice, especially for REBT and cognitive therapy,
