Abstract

We propose a cooperative spectrum sensing scheme to improve the performance of spectrum sensing in CR (Cognitive Radio) networks. The proposed scheme organizes CR cooperation and designates a fusion center to control the CR cooperation. In this scheme, each CR node performs a single spectrum sensing and measures the SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) of corresponding channel. Then, the fusion center collects the channel state information as well as sensing information from all the CR nodes, and efficiently performs cooperative spectrum sensing with weighting factors according to the channel SNRs. Here, the weighting factors are robust to the variation of wireless channel environment and are calculated by PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm. Hence, the proposed scheme can detect the frequency utilization of primary users more efficiently than the conventional cooperative sensing scheme in inherently adverse and time-varying wireless channels.
