Abstract
In this paper, we proposed an algorithm which is generating virtual line based on the Kalman filter using vehicle dynamics model. The proposed method is divided as two parts. One of them is written that road feature points on the input image from camera are extracted by image processing algorithm. Another one is described about the way to generate vehicle dynamics state vector for driving lane using road feature points. The suggested above conversion module should be used for opposite way which is converting road features from vehicle dynamics state vector. The system including above two modules is acting below order. If each 6 raw points from each line are detected from image processing module, vehicle dynamics vector is generated in the next module using them. However, another module which is merging predicted and measured line information is acting between above two modules, when one line of road lines is missed. In this case, the predicted one from previous detected results is used as virtual line. In the point of view on the system level, the criterion which is deciding to get the predicted line as virtual line or not is needed. The reliability value to decide using it or not is used as threshold. After decision module to confirm using predicted line as virtual line, merging module which is mentioned above is merging predicted and measured lines is done. To verify the proposed algorithm, we remove one detected line from two detected lines on purpose. If the system is acting well, predicted line is used as virtual line at suitable moment. Accuracy of the system is calculated difference among terms of predicted, measured and real lines at the moment of applying predicted one as virtual line. And, we proved how long this predicted line from the proposed algorithm is acceptable for the system while single line of the lane is detected.
