본 논문은 중소 기업망에 적합한 네트워크 QoS 및 보안을 동시에 제공할 수 있는 네트워크 “화이트 박스” 플랫폼을 제시한다. 화이트 박스라는 용어가의미하는 바와 같이 본 논문에서 제시되는 플랫폼은 네트워크 QoS 및 보안 기능을 탑재하기 위한 기본 베이스 플랫폼으로서 사용을 목표로 한다. 특히 효율적인 QoS와 보안 기능처리가 이루어 질 수 있도록적절한 성능을 보장하면서도 사용자의 요구에 따른 다양한 기능을 수용하기에 적합한 유연성을 가지는 멀티코어 프로세서와L2?L4 계층에서 최적화된 성능을 보장하는 네트워크 프로세서를 조합한 구조를 제시한다. 또한 멀티코어의 코어가 최대로 활용될 수 있도록 네트워크 프로세서를 이용한 코어의 트래픽 분배 구조가 제시된다. 마지막으로 제시된 플랫폼을 이용하여 개발된 보안 라우터 프로토타입을 설명하며 그 플랫폼의 성능 시험 결과를 제시한다.
Abstract
This paper presents the prototype implementation ofa network QoS and security integrated whitebox platform which could be easily adaptedfor various purposes, especially for small and medium enterprises. We propose aplatform which combines a network processor which is the most suitable for fast packet processing at L2 ? L4 layers, and two flexible multicore processorswhich are embedded with the richfeaturessuch as security and deep packet inspection.We also provide an efficient architecture in which flows are balanced efficiently among the cores of the two multicore processors. Wefinally show a prototype router implementation based on the whitebox platform and shows some simple performance results on the system.
