대학생의 패배감이 자살생각에 미치는 영향에서 속박감을 통한 좌절된 소속감의 조절된 매개효과: O’Connor의 통합적 동기-의지 모형을 중심으로

초록

본 연구의 목적은 O’Connor의 통합적 동기-의지 모형이 우리나라 대학생들에게도 적용이 가능한지를 검증함과 동시에, 자살생각에 이르는 과정에서 소속감이 보호요인이 될 수 있는가를 확인하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 전국에 거주하는 대학생 509명을 대상으로 패배감척도, 속박감척도, 자살생각척도, 좌절된 소속감 척도를 사용하여 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 패배감이 자살생각으로 가는 과정에서 직접효과와 속박감을 통해 자살생각으로 가는 간접효과가 모두 유의하게 나타났다. 둘째, 속박감이 자살생각에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 속박감과 좌절된 소속감의 상호작용항 또한 자살생각에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 패배감에서 속박감, 속박감에서 자살생각, 패배감에서 속박감을 거쳐 자살생각에 이르는 과정이 유의하게 나타났으며, 속박감과 좌절된 소속감의 상호작용 변수가 자살생각에 유의하게 영향을 미쳤다. 이는 속박감이 패배감과 자살생각의 관계를 완전 매개함과 동시에, 본 연구의 모형인 좌절된 소속감의 조절된 매개효과가 유의함을 의미한다. 마지막으로 국내 대학생 자살문제 개입에 있어, 소속감이 좌절되어 있는 위험군에 대한 개입과 소속감을 느낄 수 있는 환경 및 프로그램 개발 등의 지원 필요성을 제시하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to (a) examine if the O’Connor’s integrated motivation-volitional model could be applicable to university students in Korea and (b) identify if belongingness could be a protective factor for suicidal ideation. For this purpose, 509 university students in the G region in South Korea were surveyed with the scales measuring feelings of self-defeat, entrapment, suicidal ideation, and thwarted belongingness. Findings are as follows. First, feeling of self-defeat had a direct effect on suicidal ideation, and the mediating effect of entrapment was also significant on the relationship between feeling of self-defeat and suicidal ideation. Second, entrapment had a significant effect on suicidal ideation, and the interaction term of entrapment and thwarted belongingness had a significant effect on the relationship between entrapment and suicidal ideation as well. Third, in the relationships between feeling of self-defeat, entrapment, suicidal ideation, entrapment had a full mediation effect on the relationship between feeling of self-defeat and suicidal ideation, and the interaction term of entrapment and thwarted belongingness had a significant effect as well, indicating that the moderated mediation effect of thwarted belongingness was significant. Based on these results, strategies such as providing positive environments or developing programs that enable students to feel belongingness are suggested to intervene university students who have suicide-related issues effectively.
