군집분석을 통한 중학생 인터넷중독 위험군의 유형 분류

초록

본 연구에서는 중학생 인터넷중독 위험군을 대상으로 그들의 심리적 특성을 확인하고 유형을 분류해 보고자 하였다. 수도권 소재의 중학교 학생 2,434명을 대상으로 인터넷중독의 정도(KS척도)와 이와 관련이 있는 것으로 알려진 자기통제력과 우울감 및 역기능적 신념을 측정하였으며, 추가로 사회환경적 요소인 또래관계와 부모양육태도를 측정하였다. KS척도를 근거로 인터넷중독 위험집단과 일반 집단을 나누고 이를 비교해 본 결과, 위험집단이 상대적으로 자기통제력이 낮았으며, 우울감이 더 높았고, 인터넷과 관련한 더 높은 역기능적 신념을 가지고 있었다. 인터넷중독과 관련 있는 심리내적 요소들을 사용하여 인터넷중독군을 군집분석한 결과, 2개의 군집이 추출되었다. 하나의 군집은 상대적으로 인터넷중독의 정도가 낮았으며, 주관적 불편감을 전혀 느끼지 않았고 역기능적 신념이 인터넷중독을 설명하는 집단이었다. 다른 한 군집은 인터넷중독의 정도가 더 심했으며 또래관계에서 더 문제를 보였고 우울감의 정도가 더욱 심각한 집단이었다. 이러한 결과가 의미하는 바와 치료적 개입에 대한 시사점 등에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the psychological characteristics of Internet-addicted middle school students. For this task, the degrees of disposition, impulse, and depression related to Internet addiction were measured, and the relation scales such as peer relationship and parenting style were also combined. The result of comparing Internet-addiction group with non-Internet-addiction group revealed that the former group is likely to have poor self-control, high depression, and more maladaptive cognition related to Internet addiction. Also cluster analysis of psychological variables related to Internet addiction among Internet-addiction group was carried out. As a result, 2 distinct groups emerged: maladaptive cognition group and depressive emotion group. The former group has relatively low level of Internet addiction and little subjective emotional problem. But maladaptive cognition uniquely characterized Internet addiction in this group. The latter group has much Internet addiction, peer relationship problem, and depression. The implications for these results were discussed.
