대학생 해외 인턴십 성과에 대한 영향 요인 분석

이 연구는 대학생 해외 인턴십 성과에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석하고자 진행된 연구이다. 연구를 위하여 2009년 한국교육개발원에서 발간된 ‘대학생 해외 인턴십 실태 및 개선방안 연구’의 설문조사 자료를 활용하였다. 해외 인턴십 성과는 참여자 만족도, 국제적 업무 능력 배양, 업무 관련 외국어 능력 향상, 해외 취업의 가능성 확인으로 구성되고, 성과에 영향을 주는 변인으로 배경변인, 준비의 충실도 차원, 과정의 충실도 차원의 변인들을 활용하였으며, 모형은 Feldman 등(1998)의 모형을 변형하여 적용하였다. 분석 결과 만족도에 영향을 주는 변인은 ‘상관 및 동료와의 적극적 의사소통’ 변인과 ‘외국문화의 적극적 체험’ 변인이었고, 국제적 업무 능력 배양에 영향을 주는 변인은 ‘영어 준비도’, ‘상관 및 동료와의 적극적 의사소통’, ‘외국문화의 적극적 체험’이었으며, 업무에 필요한 외국어 능력 향상에 영향을 주는 변인은 ‘참여기간’, ‘영어 준비도’, ‘상관 및 동료와의 적극적 의사소통’ 등이었고, 끝으로 해외 취업 가능성에 영향을 주는 변인은 ‘영어 준비도’, ‘상관 및 동료와의 적극적인 의사소통’이었다. 따라서 해외 인턴십의 성공적 결과를 위해 준비의 충실도 차원에서 영어 준비도를 높이기 위한 노력이 필요하고, 과정의 충실도 차원에서 의사소통과 문화체험에 있어 적극적인 태도를 끌어내기 위한 해외 인턴십 참가 대상자 교육 프로그램의 개발 및 적용이 요구된다.
Abstract
This study attempts to identify the factors affecting the perceived success of college students overseas internships. Quantitative data from “Research on the Current State of and Policy Intervention in College Students' Overseas Internship,” conducted in 2009, was used for this study. The success of the overseas internships is measured in terms of participants' satisfaction, enhancement of global job capacity, improvement of foreign language skills for job performance, and the increase in the likelihood of global employment. The influential factors on the outcomes include personal background, fidelity of preparation, and fidelity to the process. Feldman et al. (1998)’ model is adopted for the analysis. The results show that the influential factors affecting satisfaction are “‘active communication with colleagues” and “positive experience of foreign culture.” For enhancing global job capacity, “English readiness,” “active communication with colleagues,” and “positive experience of foreign culture” are found to be significant as the predicting variables. The predictors of improving English fluency for job performance are “participation period,” “English readiness,” and “active communication with colleagues.” Finally, the factors affecting the likelihood of global employment are “English readiness,” and “active communication with colleagues.”In conclusion, this study suggests that for the successful outcome of an overseas internship, efforts for enhancing foreign language skills should be made, and developing a positive and active attitude toward communication with foreign colleagues and experiencing foreign culture should be taken into account in implementing the education programs.
