상담자의 공감을 지각하는 청소년 내담자의 경험에 대한 현상학적 연구

본 연구의 목적은 청소년 내담자가 상담자의 어떤 반응을 공감적이라 지각하는지를 알아보고 이를 분류해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 서울/ 인천 지역 청소년 상담센터 및 학교상담실에서 5회 이상 상담을 받고 있는 청소년 내담자 15명(남자 4명, 여자 11명)을 연구 참여자로 선정하고, 상담자가 내담자의 상태나 상황을 이해했다고 느낄 때나 내담자의 생각을 알고 있다고 느낄 때, 즉 내담자가 공감적이라 느낀 상담자의 말, 행동, 느낌, 상담 분위기 등을 질문하였다. 면담자료를 Colaizzi의 현상학적 연구방법으로 분석한 결과, 67개의 구성의미, 19개의 주제, 10개의 주제군이 도출되었다. 청소년 내담자들의 지각된 공감은 ‘잘 듣고 활발하게 반응함’, ‘따뜻한 보살핌’, ‘온전한 이해’, ‘함께 머무름’, ‘문제해결을 위한 노력’의 총 5개 범주로 구별되었다. 이러한 결과는 청소년 내담자가지각한 공감은 성인 내담자와 유사한 측면도 있지만, 발달적 특징에 의한 독특한 측면을 보인다는 것을 보여준다. 따라서 청소년 상담자들은 청소년 내담자의 특징을 이해하면서 적절한 상담기법을 적용하는 것이 필요하겠다.
Abstract
The aim of this research is to figure out which responses of counselor are perceived as empathy to adolescent clients. Participants for this study were 15 of adolescent clients(4 boys, 11 girls) who were having psychological counseling more that 5 times at counseling office of youth center or school in Seoul and Incheon. Researcher interviewed participants about their perceived empathy during counseling and analysed recording data by Colaizzi’s phenomenological method after interviewing. As a result of this study, it was identified that perceived empathy of adolescent clients are composed of 67 formulated meanings, 19 themes, 10 themeclusters and 5 categories. And these categories are denominated as‘active listening’, ‘warm affection’, ‘accurate understanding’, ‘affective resonance’, ‘effort to solving problems’. These include perceived empathy of adult clients from advanced researches as well as unique part differentiated from adults. This finding can be understand in reference to developmental trait of adolescence like requiring acceptance, attention and parents or guardian. In conclusion, it is discovered that adolescent clients have their own way of perceiving empathy distinct from adult clients.
