본 연구는 대학생의 평가염려 완벽주의와 사회불안의 관계에서 내면화된 수치심과 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움의 매개효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학교에 재학 중인 학생을 대상으로 2025년 3월 18일부터 4월 3일까지 자기보고식 온라인 및 오프라인 설문조사를 실시하여 231명의 자료를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 21.0을 사용하여 기술통계분석, Pearson 상관분석을 실시하였고, SPSS PROCESS macro 4.2를 사용하여 매개효과를 분석하였으며, 통계적 유의성을 확인하기 위해 부트스트래핑(Bootstrapping)을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 평가염려 완벽주의, 사회불안, 내면화된 수치심, 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움은 정적 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 대학생의 평가염려 완벽주의와 사회불안의 관계에서 내면화된 수치심과 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움의 순차적 매개효과는 유의미한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학생의 평가염려 완벽주의가 내면화된 수치심이라는 정서적 취약성과 긍정적 평가에 대한 두려움이라는 인지적 취약성을 통해 사회불안에 이르는 심리적 경로를 실증적으로 제시하였으며, 상담 및 교육 현장에서의 개입 방안과 후속 연구의 방향에 대해 시사점을 제공하였다.
Abstract
This study examined whether internalized shame and fear of positive evaluation sequentially mediate the association between evaluative concerns perfectionism and social anxiety among university students. Data were collected from 231 students through online and in-person self-report surveys conducted between March 18 and April 3, 2025. Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlations analyses were performed using SPSS 21.0, and mediation analyses were conducted with the PROCESS macro (version 4.2) employing bootstrapping to test indirect effects. Results indicated that, evaluative concerns perfectionism, internalized shame, fear of positive evaluation, and social anxiety were all positively correlated. Furthermore, internalized shame and fear of positive evaluation sequentially mediated the relationship between evaluative concerns perfectionism and social anxiety. These findings clarify the psychological mechanisms linking evaluative concerns perfectionism to social anxiety among university students and underscore the importance of addressing shame and fear of positive evaluation in counseling and psychoeducational interventions in higher education. Implications for counseling practice and suggestions for future research are also addressed.
