민족운동 지도자 안창호의 대공주의에 관해서는 지금까지 그 개념과 삼균주의와의 관계를 두고 약간의 이견이 있어왔다. 우선 그 개념에 관한 이견은 대공주의의 복합적 특성 때문에 연유한다. 안창호의 대공주의는 하나의 정치사회 사상이면서도 다른 정치사회 사상들과 비교해 볼 때 매우 다른 면을 갖고 있다. 즉 크게 보면 경세론적 측면과 인생론적 측면을 아울러 갖고 있다는 점이 특징이다. 그런데 인생론적 측면도 윤리적 내용과 정신적 내용으로 다시 구분해 볼 수 있다. 즉 대공주의는 세 가지 측면의 내용을 함께 포함하고 있는 점이 그 특징인 것이다. 애국애족적 가치관을 강조하는 윤리적 측면과 통일단합적 태도를 요청하는 정신적 측면과 사회민주주의적 사회상을 말하는 경세적 측면이 그것이었다. 이 같은 복합적 특성을 갖고 있기 때문에 대공주의를 바라보는 사람들의 시각에 따라 각기 어느 한 측면 혹은 한 부분만이 보이거나 또는 두드러져 부각될 수 있었다. 지금까지 안창호의 대공주의에 대한 개념을 두고 약간씩 다른 의견이 있었던 것은 이런 연유에서였다. 다음으로, 안창호의 대공주의와 조소앙의 삼균주의의 관계를 두고 드러난 다른 인식은 그 기준의 차이 때문으로 볼 수 있다. 사회민주주의 사상의 형성 시점을 기준으로 말하면 그것은 분명히 조소앙이 앞섰다. 그는 3·1운동 이전에 이미 사회민주주의적 사상을 배태하고 있었고 그것을 발전시켜가고 있었다. 그러나 한국민족운동사에서 사회민주주의가 의미를 갖게 된 것은 1930년 초 비로소 한국독립당이 강령을 채택하면서부터였다. 그런데 한국독립당의 당의·당강은 안창호의 반일독립과 민주건국의 정신, 즉 대공주의가 반영된 것이었다. 이는 조소앙을 포함한 당시의 독립운동가나 중국국민당 측이 공통적으로 다 인정하는 사실이었다. 이 같은 안창호의 생각은 그 후 민족주의 각 정당들과 임정을 포함한 독립운동계에 공통으로 계승되고 발전되었는데 그 과정에서 조소앙은 가장 크게 기여하였다. 그는 특히 독립 이후 국가건설의 방향과 내용을 구체화하고 이를 삼균주의라고 명명하기에 이르렀다.
Abstract
As for Daegongism of Ahn Chang-ho, a national movement leader, there are two disagreements, one is on its concept and the other is its relation with Samgyunism. First of all, disagreement on the concept stems from complex nature of Daegongism. Ahn Chang-ho’s Daegongism is different from other political-social thoughts in that it has another aspect as well. That is, it has contents of both political-social view and life view. In addition, his life view aspect could be further divided into ethical aspect and spiritual aspect. In other words, the characteristics of Daegongism is that it includes the contents of three aspects: ethical aspect emphasizing patriotic values, spiritual aspect stressing unified attitude, and political-social aspect advocating social democratic society. Because of its complex nature, only one aspect of Daegongism could be seen or emphasized according to the point of view. This is so far the reason why there have been slightly different opinions about the concept of Ahn Chang-ho’s Daegongism. Second, a different perception of the relationship between Ahn Chang-ho’s Daegongism and Jo So-ang’s Samgyunism is due to the difference of focus. Jo So-ang was ahead in terms of formation of social democratic thought. He had already had a social democratic thought in his mind even before 3·1 movement, and was developing it. However, it was not until the Korean Independence Party adopted the code at the beginning of 1930 that social democracy achieved any meaningful importance in Korean national movement history. The code of the Korean Independence Party reflected Ahn Chang-ho’s spirit of anti-Japanese and Independence as well as Democratic Nationbuilding, i.e., Daegoingism. It was a commonly accepted fact by both independence activists including Jo So-ang and the Chinese nationalist party at that time. Ahn Chang-ho’s ideas were succeeded to independence activists including the Provisional government and nationalist parties, and So-ang contributed the most in the process. In particular, he developed and specified the direction and contents of the nation building after independence, and named it as Samgyunism.
