부여지역의 3·1운동은 크게 독립선언서 전달 단계와 만세운동 단계로 전개되었다. 두 단계 모두 부여지역의 천도교인들이 적극적으로 활약했다. 독립선언서 전달 단계에는 함열교구의 민영순, 논산교구의 김태호와 이백순, 부여교구의 김종석 등이 참여했다. 박용화의 집에서 박성요 등이 모여 독립운동을 결의했다. 이에 3월 6일 임천 만세운동이 일어났으며, 다음날 부여읍내와 규암면, 은산장터, 홍산면으로 이어졌다. 나아가 부여인들은 인근지역인 강경, 공주, 서천의 3·1운동을 주도하거나 참여했다. 3월 10일 강경에서는 세도면 출신인 엄창섭 등이, 충화면 출신 양재흥은 3월 29일 서천에서, 규암면 출신 노명우는 4월 1일 공주에서 3·1운동에 참여했다. 3·1운동 초기 만세운동이 북부지역에 집중되었던 점을 감안한다면, 부여지역의 3·1운동은 충남 지역 만세운동의 선봉으로서 역사적 의의가 크다.
Abstract
The March First Independence Movement in Buyeo area was developed largely in the two stages of the delivery of the Declaration of Independence and the independence demonstration. The believers of Cheondogyo religion actively participated in both stages of the independence movement. Young-soon Min of the Hamyeol Parish, Tae-ho Kim of the Nonsan Parish, Jong-seok Kim of the Buyeo Parish, etc. participated in the stage of the delivery of the Declaration of Independence and the people including Seong-yo Park gathered in the house of Yong-hwa Park and resolved to have the independence movement. Then the independence demonstration was held in Imcheon on March 6 which spread to Buyeo-eup, Gyuam-myeon, Eunsan Marketplace and Hongsan-myeon the next day. In addition, the people of Buyeo led or participated in the March First Independence Movement launched in the neighboring areas of Ganggyeong, Gongju and Seocheon: Chang-seop Eom and others from Sedomyeon participated in the March First Independence Movement held in Ganggyeong on March 10; Jaeheung Yang from Chunghwa-myeon in Seocheon on March 29; and Myeong-u Roe from Gyuam-myeon in Gongju on April 1. Considering that most of the demonstrations were held in the northern region of Korea at the early stage of the March First Independence Movement, the March First Independence Movement launched in Buyeo area has great historical significance as the spearhead of the movement that spread throughout the Chungcheongnam-do Province.
