르 꼬르뷔지에 건축의 공간해석에 관한 연구 - 콜린 로우의 콜라쥬 시티를 중심으로

현대건축을 말할 때 포스트모더니즘을 언급하지 않을 수 없으며 포스트모더니즘의 특징인 역사주의(historicism)와 맥락주의(contextualism)의 이론적 근거와 영향을 준 로우의 콜라쥬 기법의 재고와 분석은 건축과 디자인의 역사를 이해하는데 있어 중요한 의미를 갖는다고 본다. 로우는 ‘콜라쥬 시티' 에서 르 꼬르뷔지에의 작품을 콜라쥬 기법에 의해 바라봄으로써 이제까지 기능주의자로서만 인식해 오던 그를 새로운 시각으로 해석하는 틀을 제공하였다. 본 연구는 로우가 바라보는 건축과 공간을 그의 연구의 결정체인 콜라쥬 기법으로 이해하고 고찰하여 그러한 방법이 건축의 역사에 어떠한 영향을 주었는지를 밝히고자한다.
Abstract
'Collage City' presented by Colin Rowe in 1976 is a concept of city and has been a popular research topic. Without referring postmodernism, modern architecture is dealt with. The analysis and review of Rowe's collage technique, which provided theoretical basis of historicism and contextualism, the major features of postmodernism, is very meaningful. In Collage City, analyzing Le Corbusier' works through collage technique, Rowe founded a analytical framework which enabled consideration of Le Corbusier, who had been recognized as a functionalist, from different standpoint. This study tried to investigate and understand Rowe's view of space and architecture through collage technique, the masterpiece of his research and enlighten what influence his methodology had on the history of architecture. In addition, this study purposed to endow Le Corbusier's architecture with new meaning by presenting the Rowe's position which viewed Le Corbusier's works as collage city.
