무대디자인에서 극 전개 흐름에 따른 빛과 그림자 표현 연구 - 뮤지컬 [아이다]의 무대디자인 사례를 중심으로-

현대인들은 다양한 공연문화를 접하고 있다. 많은 공연들 중에서도 스토리, 음악, 춤을 가지고 극의 흐름에 따라 전개 되는 뮤지컬 무대 공간에 관하여 연구하고자 한다. 연구의 목적은 무대 공간에서 가장 중요시 되는 조명을 통해 빛과 빛의 또 다른 형태인 그림자가 극 전개에 있어 전반적인 극의 흐름과 등장인물들의 내면 심리와 어떤 연관성을 갖는지 그 관계를 증명하는 것이다. 하나의 대상 뮤지컬을 선정하여 극 전개를 분석하고, 빛과 그림자의 표현 방법에 대한 문헌조사와 내용을 분석하는 방법으로 연구를 진행하고자 한다. 연구분석 결과, 대상 작품의 스토리 속 감성과 빛과 그림자가 서로 연결 되어 상징적인 대립구조를 이루어서 공간에 표현되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 나아가 조형 요소인 빛과 그림자표현이 극의 상상력을 불러 일으켜 심상적인 무대공간으로 표현 될 수 있음을 증명 하고자 한다.
Abstract
Among many kinds of performances, the musical stage space, where a story, music and dances develop along the course of a plot, is the subject of this study. This research aims to prove the relationship among light, shadow as another form of light, the general flow of a play and its characters’ inner mentality according to Contemporary men face a variety of performing arts. the development of its plot through the illumination, the most important element in the stage space. To do this, one musical was chosen and the evolution of its drama was analyzed. Literature research on the expression methods of shadows was also conducted and their contents were analyzed. The research results showed that the sensitivity in the story of the selected musical, light and shadow were interconnected and expressed in the space, creating a symbolic conflicting structure. Furthermore, this research aims at verifying that light and shadow, the formative elements, can arouse imagination of a play and be expressed into an imaginable stage space.
