Abstract
This study aims to examine differences in suspects’ physiological responses to the sacrifice relevant question. We divided the suspects into two groups, “lie” and “truth,” depending on their polygraph test results and measured differences between their physiological responses of three charts on the sacrifice relevant question. The truth group showed significantly reduced physiological responses to the sacrifice relevant question across three charts; whereas the lie group showed greater responses. In addition, the lie group showed significantly higher responses to the sacrifice relevant than the introductory question. In contrast, the truth group showed no statistically significant differences in their physiological responses to the two questions. These results demonstrate differences in physiological responses to the sacrifice relevant question between the two groups. In particular, the lie group had higher physiological responses to the sacrifice relevant question because they experienced anxiety and guilt across three charts. These findings may help to correctly detect truth and lies in many applied settings.
