Abstract

Traditional Culture in Literature and literature Education for Foreigners - Focused on the Humor and Wit in the Novels of KIM Yu-jeong - Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, 25․26, 389～407. This paper studied humorous rhetoric in Korean literature as a means to provide foreigners with a better understanding of Korean culture. To illustrate the various educational dimensions of literature, this paper particularly focused on the humor in the literature of KIM Yu-jeong. Following in the traditions of Korean classical novels, Kim humorously criticizes the situation of rural areas under Japanese colonial rule. Only when the nature of this rhetoric is truly understood can one hope to fully appreciate Korean humorous literature. In conclusion, to fully introduce the depth of Korean literature to foreigners, it is necessary to enhance their understanding of the aesthetics of Korean traditional rhetoric in addition to improving conversation skills.
