Abstract
This article examined the conceptions of giftedness and creativity based on the relationships between the two in order to understand if these two concepts are homogeneous or heterogeneous in nature. Based on reviews of literature regarding the models and forms of giftedness and the characteristics of gifted individuals, giftedness was found to embrace creativity conceptually. Specifically, creativity has been included as one of the major components of giftedness and suggested as one form of giftedness, particularly in contrast to intellectual giftedness. Creativity and/or creative characteristics have been found for many gifted people across different domains and thus included as one of the key characteristics of the gifted people. Given that the conception of giftedness involves that of creativity, giftedness and creativity are not the same concepts but share a considerable amount of homogeneous attributes. The article also underscored that gifted education must be geared toward developing talents for all learners as an overarching educational goal and that creative education plays a crucial role to advance gifted education toward talent development education.
