초록

본 연구의 목적은 노인의 인적 및 사회적 자본이 노년기 노인들의 노동시장 참여와 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 안정적인 노년기를 보내기 위해 노인들이 보유하고 있는 다양한 자원을 파악하고 활용할 수 있는 방안을 논의하는 것이다. 연구 자료와 대상은 한국노동연구원의 고령화연구패널(KLoSA)이며 기본 자료의 60세 이상 노인 5,545명을 분석에 사용하였다. 분석방법은 기술통계, 평균간 차이 검증, 다항로짓 분석, 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 노인들의 노동시장 참여 유형을 임금근로자, 자영업자, 무급가족봉사자, 비경제활동자로 구분하여 노인이 보유하고 있는 인적자본(교육 및 건강)과 Berkman의 사회네트워크 인덱스개념을 활용한 사회적 자본을 측정하고 이들이 각기 노년기 노인들의 노동시장 참여 유형 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 인적자본은 노년기 노인들이 유급 근로를 할 수 있는지 여부를 가늠하는데 중요한 역할을 담당한다. 또한 사회적 자본은 축적된 자본의 형태나 종류에 따라 각기 다른 노동시장 참여 형태에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 노인들의 삶의 질을 평가하기 위해 주관적인 삶의 만족도와 건강, 경제, 가족(배우자와 자녀)에 대한 만족도를 총합 평균하여 제시한 삶의 영역 만족도를 활용하였다. 인적 및 사회적 자본이 이러한 노인들의 삶의 질에 미치는 영향력은 인적자본 중 일상생활수행능력이 부족한 경우에 가장 크게 삶의 만족도를 떨어뜨리는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 자본이 많을수록 삶의 만족도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 노인들의 삶의 만족도를 향상시키고 성공적인 노후생활을 영위할 수 있는 제도적 지원과 노력이 절실한 시점임을 시사한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of human and social capital on the labor force participation and quality of life among the elderly, and to discuss ways to use variety resources in order to lead their successful later life. Data for this study is Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) from the Korea Labor Institute, and the sample size of this study is 5,545 of the elderly who are 60 years and older. The descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression and multinominal Logit analysis were used in order to explain the level of human and social capital of the elderly as well as to estimate the effect of those capitals on the labor force and quality of life among the elderly. The result of this study can be summarized as follows; First, human resource plays an important role in whether or not the elderly work through the paid work. Second, social capital affects different types of labor force participation for different kind of accumulated capital. Third, The influence of human resource and social capital on the quality of life of seniors was found to break down the greatest satisfaction in life if there is insufficient capacity to perform daily living. Furthermore, more social capital shows a positive impact on life satisfaction. The results of this study suggest that institutional support is desperate time and effort to lead a successful life after retirement to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly. The results of this study indicate that institutional support and desperate effort would be needed to improve the life satisfaction of the elderly and to lead a successful aging at their later life.
