본고는 석곡 이규준의 『『모시전주쇄관』을 중심으로 그의 『『시경』 인식을 고찰 하는 데 중심 목적이 있다. 석곡의 경학이 五經을 강조하는 데 비해 석곡 경학에 대한 연구는 주로 四書를 중심으로 진행되어 왔으며 『『시경』에 대한 전문 연구는 아직 확인되지 않는다. 이에 본고에서는 석곡 학문의 주요 부분을 이루는 그의 경학의 전모를 이해하는 데 도움이 되고자 『『모시전주쇄관』 및 반영된 그의 詩經觀을 분석하였다. 본고에서는 석곡이 四書 중심의 패러다임을 벗어나 五經 중심의 경학관을 구축하였으며 五經 가운데 특히 禮로 수렴되는 양상을 보임을 확인하였다. 석곡은 『『시』의 성격에 대해 『『書』와 함께 정치의 학문으로 규정하였으며 五經 格 言과 文詞로서의 성격을 지님에 주목했다. 아울러 「毛詩序」, 「毛傳」을 중심으로 ‘史’의 각도에서 『『시』를 파악하고자 한 부분은 기존 주석에 대한 석곡의 입장을 이해하는 데 유용함을 밝혔다. 또한 석곡이 『『시』를 ‘禮樂의 언어’로 파악한 부분을 분석하여 석곡의 禮를 통한 『『시』 읽기의 측면을 고찰했다. 그의 시경론은 단편적이어서 시경학사상 유기적인 학술 논의를 도출하기 어려운 면이 존재한다. 오히려 여성을 작자로 보는 데 회의적인 입장 등은 오늘날 시각에서 볼 때 비판의 대상이 될 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 석곡은 禮를 중심으로 五經에 대한 접근을 재구도화하고 舊注를 통해 『『시경』에 담긴 문화적 원류를 탐구하고자 노력했다. 석곡이 뚜렷한 문제의식을 지니고 경학에 대한 접근을 재구도화하고 경학의 본원에 대한 탐구를 통해 인간과 문명의 본질을 성찰하려는 노력을 보여 준 점은 여전히 주목할 만한 가치를 지닌다고 할 수있다.
Abstract
This paper primarily aims to explore Sukgok Lee Gyujun’s perception of the 『Book of Songs』 with a focus on his work 『Mosijeonjuswaegwan』. While Sukgok’s study of the classics emphasizes the Five Classics, research on his classical studies has mainly centered around the Four Books, with specialized research on the 『Book of Songs』 still unconfirmed. This paper analyzes 『Mosijeonjuswaegwan』 and his viewpoint of the 『Book of Songs』 reflected therein, to aid in understanding the entirety of his classical studies, a major part of his scholarship. In this paper, it is observed that Sukgok moved beyond the Four Books-centered paradigm to establish a classical studies perspective centered on the Five Classics, especially converging on rituals. He defined the nature of the 『Book of Songs』along with The Book of History as a study of politics, and noted its characteristics as maxims of the Five Classics and in terms of literature. Additionally, his efforts to understand the 『Book of Songs』 from the perspective of history, focusing on Maoshixu(毛詩序) and Maozhuan(毛 傳), proved useful in understanding his stance on existing commentaries. His analysis of the 『Book of Songs』 as the language of rites and music was also examined to explore his reading of the 『Book of Songs』 through rituals. His discourse on the 『Book of Songs』 is more fragmented than contextual, making it difficult to derive an organically academic discussion in the history of poetry studies. His skeptical view of women as authors, for instance, can be criticized from today’s perspective. Despite this, Sukgok restructured his approach to the Five Classics with a focus on rituals and endeavored to explore the cultural origins embedded in the 『Book of Songs』 through ancient commentaries. The fact that Sukgok had a clear problem consciousness, restructured his approach to classical studies, and endeavored to reflect on the essence of humanity and civilization through an exploration of the origin of classical studies, still holds noteworthy value.
