Abstract
Family coherence was defined as a global orientation that expresses the extent to which one has a feeling of confidence that one's internal and external environments are comprehensible, manageable, and meaningful. The purpose of this study is to examine the family coherence of children with epilepsy that may influence the level of social adaptation of children with epilepsy. This study used the sample of 141 family of children with epilepsy. This study showed that using 4 point scale, mean of family coherence is 3.24, family stress is 2.10, social adaptation of children with epilepsy is 2.67. By using Multiple Regression Analysis, it was found that family coherence influenced positive effect on social adaptation of the children with epilepsy. Especially family coherence showed moderate effect on social adaptation of the children with epilepsy. The health of the father and family income were positive effect on the social adaptation of children with epilepsy. This finding suggests us family coherence significant practical implications for social work intervention and the direction of future research in family strength.
