배우자 사별노인의 적응에 관한 연구- 성별 차이를 중심으로 -

초록

본 논문의 목적은 노년기의 가장 큰 생활스트레스인 배우자 사별을 경험한 노인들의 사별적응에 대한 인과구조 모형과 남녀 차이를 검증하기 위함이다. 이러한 목적을 위해 배우자 죽음의 질과 대처자원 및 대처전략 수준이 사별노인의 적응에 영향을 줄 것이며, 대처전략이 배우자 죽음의 질 및 대처자원과 사별적응 사이를 매개한다는 구조방정식 모형을 검증하였으며, 이 연구 모형이 성별과 자녀동거 여부에 따라 차이를 보이는지를 밝히기 위해 구조방정식을 이용한 다집단 동시 분석을 실시하였다. 본 논문의 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제안된 연구 모형이 좋은 적합도를 가진 것으로 나타났으며, 배우자 죽음의 질, 대처자원, 그리고 대처전략 모두가 사별노인의 적응에 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 이들 변수들의 하위 측정변수들도 모두 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구 모형에 대한 다집단 동시 분석에 있어서는, 측정모형에서 수발 부담 요인과 보상 대처전략 요인이, 그리고 구조모형에서 배우자 죽음의 질과 사별적응 간의 경로와 대처자원과 사별적응 간의 경로가 남녀 집단 간 차이를 보이고 있지만 그 외에는 연구 모형이 남녀 집단 간에 동일함으로 전반적으로는 남녀 집단 간의 차이가 없다고 볼 수 있다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 사별노인의 적응에 있어서 배우자 죽음의 질 수준을 높일 수 있는 사회복지실천적 개입과 결핍된 대처자원의 지원, 그리고 사별노인의 대처전략 수준의 진단과 향상을 위한 지원 등이 필요함을 보여준다.

Abstract

This study focused on the adjustment model of widowhood among the elderly. For this purpose, this research examined the causal structural model that of adjustment to widowhood, and gender differences in the causal model by multi-group simultaneous analysis. The research model hypothesized that the quality of conjugal death, coping resources and coping strategies affect adjustment to widowhood among the elderly, and coping strategies mediate between the quality of conjugal death, coping resources and adjustment to widowhood. And multi-group simultaneous analysis was accomplished to test the differences between groups of gender in the research model. Major findings are as following. First, the causal model demonstrated the fitness of the analysis of the structural equation model, and that all exogenous variables positively affected the adjustment to widowhood among older adults. Second, the result of multi-group simultaneous analysis shows gender differences in the path between 1)the quality of conjugal death and the care burden for a spouse, 2)coping strategies and compensation in metric invariance model, and 3)adjustment to widowhood and the quality of conjugal death, 4)adjustment to widowhood and coping resources.
