Abstract
In this study, the authors examined if working conditions of Korean married female workers differ by employment status, such as regular and non-regular employment and how working conditions and Work-family conflict affect their health. For the analysis, 1,554 married female workers from the 5th wave of Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women and Families(KLoWF) were selected and hierarchical regression modeling was applied. The results are as follows: Regular and non-regular employment status made significant differences in health status, job control, physical demands and work-family conflict. Among variables of working conditions, job control and physical demands were associated with health of non-regular female workers while mental demands were associated with regular female workers’ health. Work-family conflict had direct effects on health as the way working conditions did. Based on the results, the authors proposed policy implications for constructing sustainable working environment which promotes work-life balance and health improvement of married female workers.
