본 연구에서는 우리 나라 저소득 노인의 가족동거여부와 삶의 만족도의 관계를 살펴보고, 삶의 만족도에 영향을 주는 변인들에 대해 살펴보아 저소득 노인의 삶의 만족도를 높이기 위한 방안을 제안하기 위해 이루어졌다. 연구대상은 사회복지관이나 동사무소에서 관리되고 있는 저소득 노인들이며, 조사가 가능한 93명에 대해 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였으며, 위계적 회귀분석의 방법으로 분석하였다. 조사결과 가족동거여부는 저소득 노인의 삶의 만족도를 설명하는 중요한 변수가 되었다. 그러나, 신체적 건강과 정신건강, 자아통제감, 사회적 지지망수 등의 변수를 통제하였을 때 가족동거여부는 유의미한 변수가 되지 못하였다. 이 결과에 대한 사회복지적 실천의 함의를 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study examined the relationship between living arrangement and life satisfaction in the low-income elderly. Data were collected via a self-administered questionnaire survey method. The questionnaire was designed to investigate various aspects of physical and mental health, sense of control, social support, general background variables, and so on. The sample consisted of 66 females and 27 males. The respondents' average age was 73.84 years. The hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed that living arrangement was related significantly to life satisfaction. But, this relationship did not remain after controlling for physical and mental health, sense of control, social support factors. Implications for social work practice are discussed.
