한국어판 부모감독척도(Parental Monitoring Instrument)의 타당화 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 부모감독의 측정을 위해 개발된 Parental Monitoring Instrument(PMI)의 한국어판을 개발하는 것이다. 부모가 자녀의 감독을 위해 수행할 수 있는 방법과 기술은 다양함에도 불구하고 기존의 부모감독 척도는 부모감독의 개념을 자녀의 행동에 대한 부모의 지식 정도로 축소시키는 문제점을 가지고 있다. PMI는 상대적으로 최근에 개발된 부모감독척도로써 기존 척도들과는 달리 부모가 자녀에게 적용하는 기술들(직접적 감독, 간접적 감독, 제한적 감독)에 대한 내용을 담고 있으며 감독의 영역도 건강, 학교, 컴퓨터, 전화에 이르기까지 다양한 영역을 다루는 척도이다. 총 327명의 중학생이 본 연구에 참여하였으며 한국어판 PMI에 대한 평가결과는 양호하였다. 첫째, 1차순 확인적 요인분석은 각 요인에 적재된 문항들이 해당 요인의 지표들로 적절하다는 것을 보여주었고, 2차순 요인분석은 7개 요인이 2차순 요인인 부모감독의 하위요인들로 적절하다는 것을 확인해 주었다. 둘째, 한국어판 PMI의 내적 일관성 신뢰도는 3가지 방법으로 평가되었으며 7개 하위척도의 신뢰계수는 모두 .60 이상이었고 문항-총점 간 상관계수와 문항 간 상관계수들 대부분도 기준을 초과하였다. 셋째, 한국어판 PMI의 타당도 또한 양호하였다. 요인적재값, 분산추출값, 개념구성 신뢰도 모두 권고 기준 이상으로 나타나 한국어판 PMI의 수렴타당도가 확보되었다. 판별타당도는 분산추출값과 상관계수의 제곱 값의 비교를 통해서 평가되었으며 모든 분산추출값이 상관계수의 제곱 값들보다 크게 계산되어 한국어판 PMI의 7가지 하위요인은 서로 구별되는 개념을 측정한다고 할 수 있다.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to validate the Korean version of the Parental Monitoring Instrument(PMI) which measures how frequently parents employ a variety of specific monitoring strategies. PMI is different from existing monitoring scales in that unlike most existing scale, it measures various monitoring skills that parents actually use to monitor their children. The Korean version of the PMI was validated with a sample of 327 middle school students in Gyeonggi-do. Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed that the Korean version of the PMI like the English version is composed of 7 factors. The Korean version of the PMI showed high internal consistency reliability and good construct validity. The Korean version of the PMI is a reliable and valid instrument for measuring parental monitoring skills used by Korean parents. However, validation with more representative samples is needed to improve its utility.
