분쟁 해결의 관점에서 본 고대올림픽의 기원

아직 국내의 올림픽연구가 타 분야의 연구에 비해서 양적으로 부족한 상황이기 때문에 지금까지 이루어진 훌륭한 연구들이 일부분에만 치우치는 면이 있다. 이에 본 연구는 고대올림픽경기의 역사적 배경을 주제로 하여 이미 출판된 여러 연구주제들을 보완하고자 한다. 본 논문은 고대올림픽의 헤라클레스 기원설이나 혹은 펠롭스 기원설 등을 단지 신화의 영역에만 두지 않고 역사적 분야로 이끌어서 올림픽경기가 이루어진 배경을 설명한다. 이를 위해서 청동기시대의 미케네문명과 미노아문명을 거친 그리스가 도리아인의 이동과 암흑기를 거치면서 어떻게 ‘고대그리스’ 및 ‘그리스인’으로 형성되어 가는지 그 과정을 다루고, 고대 문헌 속에 등장하는 정치 사회적 변동 상황을 분석하여 고대올림픽경기가 종족분쟁을 해결하고 평화를 정착시키기 위한 목적으로 도입되었다는 사실을 밝힌다.
Abstract
For national studies on the Ancient Olympic Games are not yet so very flourished as in other fields, those are generally focused on limited parts. Therefore I would like to assist the subjects of many research topics published until now with historical background of the ancient Olympic Games. This paper does not leave the theories of the origin of the Olympic Games with Heracles and Pelops in the area of the myths. These themes will be led to the historical explanation, so that the background of the Olympic Games should be clearly understood. To do this, it should be described how Greece and Greeks had been formed from the Mycenaean and Minoan culture of the Bronze Age to the Dark Age and Dorian Invasion. With this background and the socio-political changes mentioned in the ancient literature I try to explain that the Ancient Olympic Games had been renewed for the purpose of establishing peaceful settlement of the dispute in Greece.
