초록
This paper aims to analyze six occurrences of the motifs ‘plucking and destroying’, and ‘planting and building’ in the book of Jeremiah. It will attempt to connect the motifs with wisdom tradition, by comparing the motifs with other verses in the Hebrew Bible and in Egyptian literature. It will also pursue how the motifs function within the book of Jeremiah literally, as well as theologically. It is well known that the composition history of the book of Jeremiah is very complicated. This paper argues that after all of Jeremiah’s prophetic words are collected, it is necessary for various theological and textual incongruities to be in harmony. The motif also occurs six times in the LXX, and in the same order. Accordingly, it can be concluded that the wisdom motif in Jeremiah was used as a way of unifying various theological voices, in an early stage of textual shaping, rather than the later Deuteronomistic redaction.
