Abstract
This paper investigates kinds of ways to applicate eye tracking method into writing education research, after review the cognitive research method to writing research and writing education research. The eye tracing is the best way to uncover writing processes of the students and assessing process of the Korean teachers. This is a good point at writing education research. First, eye tracking is the helpful strategy to reveal the students’ reading patterns about the ‘writing prompt’, ‘materials’, and ‘the text so-far’ in a cognitive process model. Other methods, or a think-aloud, an video analysis, a reflective writing, have a lack of information about writing processes. Second, eye tracking is the useful method to know the Korean teachers’ assessment patterns of the students’ writing. Because eye tracking detect eye movement of the Korean teachers in assessing the students’ writing.
