본 연구의 목적은 가족돌봄청소년의 가족돌봄 수준을 파악하고 가족의 경제적 수준, 가족구조 등의 가족특성이 이들의 돌봄 수준에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위해 186명의 가족돌봄청소년을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료에 대해, 기술분석과 위계적 회귀분석을 실행하였다. 분석결과, 국내 가족돌봄청소년의 돌봄 수준은 높은 편이었고, 가족돌봄의 하위영역에 따라 그 수준에 차이가 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 특히 가사, 가정관리, 정서지원의 수준이 높았고, 경제⋅실질지원, 가족원 수발, 형제자매 돌봄은 상대적으로 낮은 수준을 보였다. 여러 가족특성 요인들은 가족돌봄 전체 차원과 하위차원에 대해 각기 다른 영향관계에 있었는데, 특히 가족의 경제적 수준과 상시 돌봄 필요 가족원 수는 여러 하위차원에서 통계적 유의미성이 관찰되었다. 가족구조, 가족규모, 지지적 가족관계 또한 일부 하위차원에서 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 가족의 특성을 고려한 가족돌봄청소년 지원 방안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine the level of caregiving performed by young carers (YCs) and to empirically investigate how family characteristics-such as family SES and family structure- influence this level of caregiving. To this end, a survey was administered to 186 YCs, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hierarchical regression analysis. The findings indicate that the overall caregiving level among YCs in Korea was high, with notable variations observed across the sub-domains of caregiving. Higher levels of caregiving were reported in the domains of domestic chores, household management, and emotional care, while lower levels were found in financial⋅practical help, and sibling care. Family characteristics were found to differentially influence the levels of caregiving at both the overall level and across specific sub-domains. In particular, household economic status and the number of family members requiring constant care were significantly associated with the level of caregiving in several sub-domains. Family structure, family size, and supportive relationships of a family were also statistically significant in certain sub-domains. Based on these results, the study proposes policy and practice recommendations to support YCs, with particular attention to the diverse characteristics of their family environments.
