초록
Venlafaxine is an effective antidepressant medica¬tion which acts through the blockage of serotonergic or noradrenergic receptors. I present a case of venlafaxine induced mania in a unipolar depressed 33 year old wom¬an. She had a history of nortriptyline induced hypomania and a family history of suicide. 51 days after beginning venlafaxine, she began developing manic switch. Twen¬ty five days after stopping venlafaxine, manic symptoms disappeared. This case suggests that venlafaxine may be associated with a switch to mania or hypomania in unipolar depressive patient with bipolarity.
