Reduced intake of food and weight loss in end-stage dementia are indicators of onset of dying process as well as altered level of consciousness, poor eye contact, speech disturbance, decreased muscle flexibility and swallowing difficulty. Maintenance of comfort and dignity is crucial in th end-of-life care for the dementia patients.
