Abstract

This study tried to understand the meaning by examining the poems and essays published in the later years of Jung Han-Sook. His hometown, which has appeared from the beginning of his poetry and essays, was the driving force for him to overcome the hardships of life. He makes displacement into a general experience by replacing the space of no return with the time of no return. The guilt of displaced person gives him legitimacy as a member of South Korean society through the generalization of usual experience. If hometown is the origin of individuality, then the face can be said to be the present of individuality. The face connects with the past and reminds him of childhood and the face of his mother. On the other hand, it summoned the shadow with the death ritual and the opposite spirit. However, the reason the soul was called was rather to stand on the side of the body. It can be said that Jung Han-Sook’s overall system of consciousness is to believe in the one-time nature of the body and pay attention to the value of existence in this world. The writings left behind by Jung Han-Sook in his later years were traces of his struggle to perfect the individuality of life that is greater than art.
