Abstract

New Year’s Eve is the last holiday of the year and the last day of the year, and the temporal specificity that the following day is the beginning of a new year and the sensitivity triggered by it have stimulated the emotions of writers, and many writers, regardless of the era, have created Jeseok poetry. Among Jeseok poetry, there is a type of poetry that recites only feelings of emotions triggered by the temporal specificity of New Year’s Eve, and there is also a type of poetry that recites the feelings of it in that atmosphere, indicating the spatio-temporal background of it. These poems show the aspect of lyrical poetry. On the other hand, there are attempts of a type of customs poetry that focuses on the customs of it, and there are also customs that only recite the customs of it, with the feelings of Jeseok being rarely revealed on the surface. Most of the poems with a custom poetry nature also have the aspect of lyrical poetry, while the customs poetry tends to objectively describe only the customs of it, excluding the feelings of the poet. Focusing on these types of poems, this paper is an article that examines the category of Jeseok poetry. Until now, Jeseok poetry has basically focused on ‘poems written on New Year’s Eve’ and ‘poems that recite the various emotions and customs of the New Year’s Eve’. However, as a result of examining the poems written at the end of the year, which were said to have been written a few days before New Year’s Eve (a few days before New Year’s Eve) in the poem system conscious of the holiday called New Year's Eve, I recognized that these poems also contain content that is not much different from Jeseok poetry. Therefore, I think it is okay to expand the category so that these poems can be included in Jeseok poetry. To summarize the existing views and my views made in this paper, I’m going to take my poetry according to that category “a poem written on New Year’s Eve that recites various emotions or customs of the New Year’s Eve” is referred to as a ritual poem in a narrow sense. In addition, it can be defined as a custom poetry in a broad sense, including “a custom poem that describes only the customs poetry written around New Year’s Eve, which recites various feelings at the end of the year.”
