이 연구는 4주간의 항우울약물 단독 혹은 기분안정약물과 병합치료에 호전되지 않았던 양극성장애 우울증 4명과 주요 우울증 4명에게 lamotrigine을 항우울약물 과/혹은 기분안정약물과 함께 치료하여 항우울 효과를 평가하였다. 대상환자 8명중 7명은 3주간 치료후 HRSD점수가 50%이상 감소하였으며 HRSD로 평가한 우울증상은 치료 제1주에 기저치에 비하여 54％, 제2주에 63％, 제3주에 66％, 제4주에 70％ 감소되었다. 이 연구는 소수의 환자를 대상으로 한 단기 연구로 이 결과를 일반화하는데는 한계가 있으나, lamotrigine과 항우울약물을 함께 치료할 때 상승효과로 치료의 효과가 빠르게 나타난다고 추정되어 향후 통제된 연구로 검증하는 것이 필요하다고 생각된다.
Abstract
This study evaluated antidepressant effect of adjunctive lamotrigine treatment in 8 depressed patients, 4 bipolar depressed and 4 major depression, who did not respond to 4 weeks treatment with antidepressant alone or combined with mood stabilizer. In seven (88%) of 8 patients HDRS decreased over 50% at end of 3 weeks treatment. The serial HRSD showed progressive decrement, 54% decrease in week 1, 63% in week 2, 66% in week 3, and 70% in week 4. This result suggests synergistic effect between lamotrigine and antidepressants and further controlled study is warranted.
