Abstract

This study explores how gender interact with perceived risk and influence tourists' use intention toward tourism mobile apps. Particularly, we focus on the mediating role of technology readiness. The study used 255 tourist participants to show that tourists, regardless of gender, have a negative perception of technology readiness when they perceive a high level of risk. Further, in comparison with the female, the male have a more positive perception of technology readiness and more positive use intention toward mobile apps when they perceive a low level of risk. The results also show that technology readiness mediates the relationship between two-way interaction index (gender x perceived risk) and use intention toward mobile apps. Finally, implications and limitations of this study, and directions for future research are suggested.
