Abstract

A study of Hungry Daughter’s theme Lee Young Koo (Hankuk Univ. of Foreign Studies) The Hungry Daughter depicted the extraordinary growing experience of a girl who had unexplainable connection with hunger. Through the angle of this 18-year-old girl, we can see the history of an epoch, and through the girl’s heart, we can hear the voice of this period of time. The author used a stern, examining and critical way to record this special period in the history. Which type of "hunger" could make a girl suffer physically and mentally? Which type of "hunger" could make people of that age so sad? And which type of hunger could afflict a nation with irrevocable trauma? This type of hunger was not physical hunger caused by the lack of maintenance, but spiritual and mental hunger.
