Abstract
The attitude of The Heroes and the Heroines about fame and gain is not only admiration, but also connected with the thinking about several issues ,such as self-discipline, family education and destiny,etc. The novel advocates middlebrow for a lucky life, which is the main reason that the character of Shi-san Mei is inconsistent in the two parts of the novel.
