이공계생을 위한 글쓰기 교육의 방법론과 운영에 대한 연구

Abstract

As many colleges are increasingly focusing on the importance of writing skills in higher education, so are university engineering departments making efforts to develop discipline-specific writing programs adapted to the unique needs and character of engineering schools. This report examines case studies of existing writing programs in university engineering departments, both in South Korea and internationally. In addition, it makes recommendations for future directions of such writing education and specific methodology. First, the development of writing education in engineering colleges should not be random or haphazard. It should be integrated into the long-term plan of the engineering curriculum, along the model of curricula in liberal arts and social science colleges. Secondly, the discipline-specific writing program should be implemented in a way that enhances the engineering students' academic success by integrating writing education with technical coursework, preserving the intrinsic attributes of the engineering field. Third, it is important to use effective forms of assessment and feedback to systematically organize the writing classes towards measurable improvement of students' writing skill.
