This study aims to reveal the changes and historical characteristics of musical theatre during the 1970s. In the 1970s, as such small-scale musicals including more diversified forms, original musicals, featuring traditional Korean melodies, musical productions by the Specialized theater organizations and musicals as amateur cultural movement appeared. The new experimental musicals enriched the local musical arena. Also, despite more and more artists and private groups engaged in producing musicals, the local musical scene was facing its limitations. The Korean musical arena needed a reliable infrastructure.
Abstract

The new experimental musicals enriched the local musical arena. Also, despite more and more artists and private groups engaged in producing musicals, the local musical scene was facing its limitations. The Korean musical arena needed a reliable infrastructure.
