‘저승’관념에 관한 비교문학적 고찰 ­ 저승설화 연구를 위한 시론

Abstract

The other world is said to the world in which the soul of the dead man lives. And it is also called the under world. the world beyond, or Hades and it includes heaven, hell and papadise all toghether. The other world is the world after death based upon the theory of immortality of a soul, and this concept of the world contains universial thinking system. Since its deried motifs and its symbolism are considerably similar the concept of the other world is said to be common to all countries. Rise above time and space, the stories of the other were recorded by the people of that day who considered tham as being important. In the tales, the group unconsciousness of human beings who are desirous of the perpetuity of life is expressed. Among the people of tradition, the other world is considered whree we all have to go and once we go there, we could never come back to. And we see it as an extension of the world which we live in. The other world is metaphorically a probable illusion, but it is a necessary reality to the people who believe in it. Like this world, there are also grade of ranks, an administrator and a judge in the other world. It is shown that the juristic cats the administrator and the judge execute are quite fair.
