Abstract
The Ming koine phonetic features in the dialect isolate of Ganzh-ou This paper shows the Ming koine phonetic features in the dialect isolate of Ganzhou. Contrary to the widely accepted hypothesis, the immigration that took lace in mid-16th century to Ganzhou had a significant impact on the genesis of this dialect. The results from the comparative analysis conducted with the help of the Baxter(1998)'s analysis support this point showing that the Ganzhou dialect belongs to the same sub-group as the Varo's Guanhua koine of the Ming/Qing period.
