Abstract

″In Otogi Joshi″, which Dazai Osamu wrote during a raid during the end of the war, the world of utopia created in Dazai’s visions is depicted. “Otogijoshi”, which got its material from the Japanese old story, takes the form of an old story but details the names and fresh thoughts of old literature. In addition, the three stories depict a utopia in contrast to the reality of a severe war. The place is symbolized by the image of a pale yellow-green transparent <water>, as if it were piled up in amniotic fluid inside the matrix. It should be noted that this image of <water> coincides with the experience of experiencing <Peace of Mind> for the first time as a child born through the Tsugaru tour that he went to just before writing “Otogijoshi”. In addition, Dazai’s return to his hometown has provided an opportunity to consciously look back on the Japanese classics as a antagonism to the Japanese literature. Dazai’s return to his hometown escapes from the center of the Tsugaru family and experiences his rediscovery through old friends, old employees, nanny and his family. It was an opportunity to look back on himself from the people of Tsugaru. 『Otogijoshi』 utilizes an old story known to all Japanese people, using his unique parody form to complete the best masterpiece. Maybe it was intended to convey to the Japanese readers, <The Truth about Tsugaru>, which was deeply felt in their hometown reversion. As mentioned in the preface of <The Tongue Sparrow> by Dazai himself, for <People who are fighting hard for the Japanese country breakthrough>, I want to justify the completion of the writing without stopping even in the midst of the raid of raids.
