초록

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the principle of text structure through the analysis of thematic progression. Text consists of thema ,which is known information as well as the basis of communication. First, I will show how thema is established with relation to a certain utterance. Second, I will clarify the hierarchical structure of text on the basis of the analysis of semantic relations among thema. In so doing, I attempt to explain the principle of expression and understanding in language use and to suggest the method of text analysis that can provide practical aid in solving the problems that learners encounter in the process of expression and understanding.
