Abstract

This study is aimed at the problem: how occurs the function of text or “Sinn” in term of E. Coseriu in the commnication? For this purpose I surveyed the existing well known communication models in critical view. This study deals with a sort of dynamic function contrast to static function as object of the previous study(Lie 2000). The model of Saussure is a sort of static model in contrast to model of Ogden/Richards, which can be regarded as dynamic communication model at first time, because it deals with function of language in use. The model of Bühler has three types of function: “Anzeichen”, “Signal” and “Symbol” according to his triarde relation between sign to three elements, i.e. speaker, hearer and object. I have criticized the model of Jakobson and found that his model has just the same three functions as the model of Bühler, even if he asserts that separate six functions. Roughly we can devide two different types of communications: ‘tell something (to whom)’ vs ‘tell self to whom’ or ‘connect self to whom’. The latter type of communication reveal the essential character of language, that is, a speech already presupposes the other, i.e. hearer as another ‘subject’, what is related to “Alterität” in W.v. Humboldt.
